Fighting Crime With A Text Message
Did you know you can report crime anonymously by text message in Monroe County? From Channel 13 WHAM News:
Monroe County and the City of Rochester partnered with Monroe County Crime Stoppers to provide the new service.
The service allows anonymous text messaging by encrypting text messages and routing them through computer services outside the United States. The server will assign the tipster an alias to maintain anonymous contact.
To text message crime tips, send a text message to CRIMES or 274637. Before creating a message, users will need to type the word SAFETIP and then type their message
