You've probably received a postcard that looks like this recently. Group purchasing is one of the ways that NeighborWorks® Rochester helps people in Healthy Blocks neighborhoods add curb appeal and value to their homes. Sarah and I work with contractors that offer these services and arrange for a group discount. At the end of April, we'll send the list of people interested in estimates to each contractor and they'll set up a time to come give you an estimate. If you like the price, you can work with the contractor directly. You can also escrow your project with NeighborWorks® Rochester, which means a Housing Analyst will come out and inspect the project for completion, and then release the payment to the contractor. We also have special low-interest home improvement loans available for your project if you prefer to spread your payments out.

Last year, 17 homeowners invested over $33,000 on new glass block windows and driveway repairs in our three Healthy Blocks neighborhoods combined. On average, they saved about 10% over what they would have paid by doing their projects alone.

This year we are again offering driveway repairs/replacement and glass block windows. We are also adding landscaping, a new group purchasing project for us, since many people have asked about it.
