You'll notice in our photo gallery we have new pictures from the Community Leadership Institute in San Jose. There were over 900 people from all over the country in attendance! Three neighbors, two folks from the REALTORS Charitable Foundation and two staff people from NeighborWorks attended the Institute, including myself. We attended classes to learn how to address community issues, how to organize people for positive change, small-group fundraising, and more! More than anything we learned that whatever issues or problems are being faced in here in Rochester, there is a community somewhere else with similar challenges, and by working together we can find new solutions.
Part of the CLI experience includes the opportunity to apply for a grant for up to $2000 for the neighborhood. We've made a lot of progress and have some great ideas for next year. If you'd like to join us in planning for next year or just find out more, please come to our next meeting December 8th-time and location will be posted here soon.
